Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

The assault caused the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
